mud
mud feels so good

The words to this poem have been changed over the years, but the meaning remains the same and it is one of my favorites…

"One Hundred Years From Now"
A hundred years from now
it will not matter
what my bank account was,
the sort of house I lived in,
or the kind of car I drove.
But the world may be different, because I was important in the life of a child.

Time Well Spent

In the past 8 weeks I have learned a lot about what I want to do with my career and about myself.
I have always known I was meant to be in the early childhood field, working with children.  But through this course I discovered my passion within early childhood development is the pursuit of giving children the opportunity to learn good social and emotional skills.
I am planning to pursue my goal to teach early childhood courses at the college I currently teach preschool at.  As well as continue my efforts to get a social emotional training program at my school.  I am hoping I can have this program approved and going by summer 2014.
And we are starting parenting classes at my school in January through the agency that teaches dinosaur school.  I plan to help with that program.
Finally, I learned that I am not a writer.  I love reading research and other articles about early childhood, I could read all day, but writing papers is definitely not on my list of strengths!  I guess I will have to make sure I include a proficient writer in my community of practice.

It has been a very rewarding journey and I thank Dr. Teri for challenging me and my classmates for encouraging and supporting me through the past eight weeks.
Good luck to you all in your endeavors.
